James E. Coleman, Ph.D.

Dr. Coleman’s teaching experience spans 15 years, including undergraduate, graduate and Executive MBA programs at Troy University, Mercer University and Dalton State College. In addition, as Vice President of Market Results, a financial planning training and consulting firm, he has helped hundreds of candidates pass the Certified Financial Planner™ exam over the last decade. Prior to his academic career, Jim spent over a decade in public accounting and corporate management, concluding with the position of Managing Director of Public Relations at Federal Express, where he was responsible for the company’s global public and investor relations activities. His degrees include a MS and Ph.D. from University of Alabama as well as BBA in accountancy from University of Mississippi. Dr. Coleman is a member of the Direct Marketing Education Foundation's Professors Academy, the Financial Planning Association and has authored numerous articles in journal publications on topics such as relationship marketing and marketing opportunities for financial planners.

 

Michael A. Dalton, Ph.D., J.D., CPA, CFP®, CLU, ChFC
An associate professor of Accounting and Taxation at Loyola University in New Orleans, Dr. Dalton is the former chairman of the Certified Financial Planner Board of Examiners. Dr. Dalton is a current member of both the Financial Planning Association and the Journal of Financial Planning Editorial Review Board. He is also the author of a wide variety of other renowned professional financial planning texts, including the Dalton Review for the CFP Certification Examination.

 

 

Joseph M. Gillice, MBA, CPA, CFP®
Mr. Gillice is president of Dalton Education, LLC and is the former director of University Programs at BISYS Education Services. Mr. Gillice has designed and implemented financial planning programs at over 20 universities across the country, including Georgetown, Duke, DePaul and Rice University.  Mr. Gillice teaches fundamentals of financial planning and investment planning. He is also a technical reviewer of Understanding Your Financial Calculator and Fundamentals of Financial Planning: Theory and Practice. He received a Master of Business Administration from Georgia State University.

 

 


Thomas P. Langdon, J.D., CPA, CFA, CFP®, CLU, CEBS
Mr. Langdon has held numerous leadership positions, having served on the Board of Examiners of the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, as academic advisor to the Society of Financial Service Professionals Business and Compensation Planning Section and as an education committee member for the Financial Analysts of Philadelphia. Mr. Langdon’s articles have appeared in Financial and Estate Planning Quarterly and The American Bar Association Small Firm Digest, among other publications.

 

 

Mariette T. O'Malley, CPA, JD, CFP®
Mariette O'Malley is a tax partner in private practice focused on individual tax and financial planning issues. She is a frequent lecturer on tax and financial matters to local business and civic groups, a contributing speaker to the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and a contributing author to CPE course on 401(k) plans designed for the Internet. Ms. O'Malley has taught review courses for CPA exam candidates and the CFP® Certification Examination. She is a member of the American Association of Attorney-Certified Public Accountants, AICPA and American Bar Association.
 

 

Kristi M. Tafalla, JD, MS, CFP®, ChFC
Kristi Tafalla is president of KMTafalla Financial and Legal Services, LLC, which provides professional services including legal services, financial planning, and development and consulting services to financial services providers. Ms. Tafalla has contributed to several recognized academic texts including Estate Planning for Financial Planners, Retirement Planning for Financial Planners, and Personal Financial Planning: Theory and Practice. She also contributed to the Dalton Review for the Certified Financial Planner Exam and was the editor of and a contributor to Review for the Hong Kong CFP® Certification Exam, Papers 1-4. Ms. Tafalla was previously the director of product development for BISYS Education Services/Dalton Publications.

 

 

Randy C. Martinez, MS, CPA, CFP®
Mr. Martinez currently practices in Atlanta, GA as a co-founder and partner with the Emerald Wealth Management, LLC. Mr. Martinez focuses on assisting individuals and small business owners with developing the goals and implementing the correlating strategies for retirement, education funding, business succession and estate and income tax minimization strategies.  Mr. Martinez spent several years with the high-net worth Personal Financial Planning group of the international accounting firm of KPMG, LLP where he advised clients on tax minimization strategies related to estate and gift planning, retirement planning, and individual income tax planning and compliance.  Mr. Martinez is also an adjunct professor in the continuing education departments of both Georgetown University and Duke University. Over 1,000 financial advisors have attended his classes.
